Casting Policies
AEA PCPA is on an U/RTA Tier III AEA contract. For contract details please visit Actors Equity Organization online at www.actorsequity.org
Non-Union PCPA casts non-union guest actors mostly in our summer season. All non-union guests are compensated through a scholarship stipend. The stipend begins at $260/wk and goes up from there depending upon experience and education level. In order to receive this stipend actors are required to be enrolled as students at Allan Hancock College Enrolling as a student gives you the following: Weekly Scholarship Stipend Access to the Student Health Center Access to Campus Amenities (Gym, Pool, Library etc.)
Housing and Travel PCPA will cover housing and travel for AEA contracts as per the U/RTA Tier III rules stipulated in the handbook. PCPA does not cover housing and travel costs for Non-Union guests. For our summer season our Company Manager helps facilitate finding housing that is suitable for your needs.
Auditions PCPA holds a two to three month audition tour December through March every year. To see our tour schedule please go to the Audition page

Submissions If you cannot make it to one of our audition locations we will accept video or DVD auditions. Please make sure you send your video or DVD clearly marked with your name and contact information along with your headshot, resume and a cover letter. Make sure you have recorded two contrasting monologues and 16 to 32 bars of any song.

Frequently Asked Questions
Monologues - Monologues should be no longer than 90 seconds in length.
What are two contrasting monologues? One comic and one dramatic - or one classic and one contemporary. It is the actor’s discretion how they choose to “contrast”.
Music - How Long? 16 to 32 bars only.
What is 16 to 32 bars? This is about 30 to 45 seconds of a song.
Can I sing from something other than a musical? Songs from musicals are always best but it is up to the actor’s discretion.
Do I need to bring sheet music Yes! Unless otherwise specified.
Video/DVD - If I can’t make it to a location to audition can I submit a video or DVD? Yes!
Please make sure the video is a current tape of you doing two contrasting monologues and 16 to 32 bars of any song.
Please DO NOT send in a video of you performing in a show.

Contracts - Does PCPA hire AEA Performers? We do hire AEA performers. We are on a Tier III U/RTA Contract. (See AEA Handbook or Website for details)
Does PCPA hire Non-Union Actors? Yes, we do!
Are Non-Union Actors Compensated? Non-union actors are compensated through a scholarship stipend from Allan Hancock College PCPA requires Non-Union actors to be enrolled in the college in order to receive this scholarship stipend. Scholarship stipends begin at $260/wk and go up from there depending on experience and education level.
Do we offer EMC (Equity Membership Candidacy) Points to Non-Union Actors? Yes! We do. (See the AEA Handbook or Website for details)
Do we offer housing for Non-Union Actors? We do not pay for housing for our non-union actors but our Company Manager helps to place you in appropriate housing for your summer needs.

Do I need any experience to audition for the conservatory? No. Experience is nice but not necessary to audition for the acting conservatory.
How old do I need to be? You need to be at least 18 years old. We are a conservatory and have students of all ages and education levels. Our youngest students are 18 and we have had students in their 40’s as well.
How long is the program? Two years. (See Conservatory pages on our website to fully answer these questions)
When does it begin? We usually begin the third week in August.
How to I apply? Please refer to our conservatory page on our website for a list of what you need to apply. Visit the Admission Requirements & Procedure page
Are there Callbacks? Yes. We hold Callbacks for the Conservatory in March.
How many students do you accept every year? We accept about 35 students a year.
How many students audition? Around 200 to 300 students audition depending on the year. PCPA invites around 55 to 75 students to callbacks.
