PCPA THEATERFEST PRESENTS
An Evening of Guitar
Saturday, January 19, 2008

PCPA Theaterfest's 4th annual "An Evening of Guitar," benefit concert, features classical, Spanish, and flamenco music and dance by Berto Flamenco. It takes place on Saturday, January 19, in the Marian Theatre at 8 p.m.

Berto Flamenco is comprised of Robert Boyd, one of the top concert guitarists in America today, and flamenco dancers Cristina Villalobos and Ryan Zermeno.

Also on the bill is the ever-popular Los Perros featuring Tony Harmon, Ray Pannell and Johnny Sandoval. They were one of the standout performances at this year's La Guitarra California Festival. They will be performing a lively program showcasing their artistry and the romantic sounds of the guitar.

"An Evening of Guitar" is a benefit for PCPA Theaterfest.

Pre-show reception and concert VIP tickets are $35.00. Reserved admission for adults is $25.00 and $22.00 for seniors, children and students.

Order online at www.pcpa.org or phone the box office at (805) 922-8313.

A live auction is also a part of "An Evening of Guitar." It will be conducted by renowned auctioneer Jim Glines, President of Community Bank of Santa Maria with help from his sidekick Dr. Jose Ortiz, Superintendent/President of Allan Hancock College. The pair will auction a private "evening of guitar" concert with the popular Los Perros for up to 25 guests. This special command performance will take place in the beautiful Ann Foxworthy Gallery on the Hancock campus and include a wine reception catered by members of the PCPA company. The team of Glines and Ortiz also promise other surprises for the evening as well.

Performers' profiles:
Robert (Berto Chico) Boyd, is Santa Barbara's own premiere flamenco guitarist/composer. He is one of the rare and few Americans who has dedicated his musical dreams and professional career to the art of Flamenco and is recognized as one of the top composers of Flamenco music in the United States. Mr. Boyd began his musical training at age five and has been studying guitar for over 20 years.
A rigorous musician and careful researcher, he has studied in Spain with some of the world's finest virtuosos such as: Gerardo Nuñez, José Luis Rodriguez, Guillermo Rios (former guitarist for the infamous Flamenco company of Jose Greco), and Jesus Montoya.

Tony Harmon began his lifelong relationship with the guitar at the age of eleven and through his career has studied with noted guitarists Patrick Read, Miguel Rubio, George Sakellariou, Ray Reussner, Christopher Parkening.
Mr. Harmon has made numerous television appearances on PBS, ABC and CBS, including composing and performing the musical soundtrack for ABC television's The William Randolph Hearst Story.
