Robert Alberts, Trumpet
PCPA since 1989. Graduated from the Dick Grove School of Music in 1982. He studied with studio legends Uan Rasey, Phil Sobel, and Walt Johnson. Has worked in Nashville and 'on the road' with shows and various bands. Freelances on the Central Coast playing shows, clubs, recordings and casuals. A regular with the Sugar Daddy Swing Kings, Central City Swing, and the Viper 6. Trumpet/Arranger/ Music Director for Bob Osborn's Laurel Street Jazz. Has performed at the Pismo Jubilee and Eureka Jazz festivals, and is on call for Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. Although he enjoys playing musicals, Robert's biggest joy comes from playing loud high notes in big bands.

 

Wayne Asbury, Oboe / English Horn
Wayne Asbury, a native of Buffalo, NY, moved to Lompoc in 1972 after graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, with a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. Wayne has been a member of the PCPA musical family since 1974. He has been a part of numerous musicals and incidental music for plays. He is a frequent performer in chamber recitals throughout the Central Coast. He has been the principal oboist of the San Luis Obispo Symphony since 1975

 

Ken Hustad, Bassist / Cellist
Ken Hustad of Morro Bay is co-principal bassist with the San Luis Obispo Symphony, in addition to playing with the Mozart Festival Orchestra and Santa Maria Symphonies, the Cuesta Master Chorale, Pacific Repertory Opera, the San Luis Obispo Vocal Arts Ensemble, the Cal Poly Baroque Orchestra, and the /Tolosa Strings/ quintet. He is a string coach for the San Luis Obispo Youth Symphony and bass and cello instructor at Cuesta College and Cal Poly. Also an active jazz musician, Ken plays with the Cuesta College Faculty Jazz Ensemble and Monday Night Big Band, the Royal Garden Swing Orchestra, San Luis Jazz Band and the Central Coast Jazz Quartet.

 

Kelli Reynolds, French Horn
PCPA (since 2004): Crazy for You, Brigadoon, A Little Night Music, Oliver, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, White Christmas, Les Miserables.
Other Music Organizations: San Luis Obispo Symphony (since 2004), Santa Maria Philharmonic (since 2002), Santa Maria Winds Quintet (since 2002), Oregon Coast Music Festival (since 2008).
Training: BA in Music, California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; MM in French Horn Performance, University of California, Santa Barbara.
Day Job: Office Manager at KCBX Public Radio.

 

Ross T. Sears, Musician / Percussionist
PCPA: (Since 1985 - ALL Musicals)

Teaches: Percussion and is Director of the Percussion Ensemble at Cal Poly State University (10 years).
Training: B.M., Indiana University School of Music; M.A., San Jose State University.
Other: Timpanist/Percussionist - San Luis Obispo Symphony; Festival Mozaic (formerly Mozart Festival); Pacific Repertory Opera; Cuesta Master Chorale; Vocal Arts Ensemble; freelances with various Jazz Ensembles. Award: Performer's Certificate - Indiana University School of Music - highest award given for outstanding performance of a Senior Recital.

 

Jeanne Shumway, Cellist
Jeanne received her BA in Music Performance from UCSB, and has been Principal Cellist of many performing groups throughout California, including Santa Barbara Symphony and San Luis Obispo Symphony. Always an great musical theater fan, she is principal cellist with Opera Santa Barbara and Pacific Repertory Opera, and performed for many years with Santa Barbara Civic Light Opera. She has been heard in many of the PCPA musicals such as Ragtime, Beauty and the Beast, The Sound of Music and Oliver, and, in 2009, Les Miserables, Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Spitfire Grill.
