Erik is absolutely thrilled to welcome one of PCPA’s newest resident artists, Christen Celaya, to this month’s Talkback. Christen is a bilingual actor, teacher, writer, aerialist, filmmaker, and more. She will be performing all season on PCPA’s main stage and teaching movement in our two year acting Conservatory. Christen comes to PCPA most recently from Southern California, where she’s been working in both theater and film. She has performed with San Diego Rep, Arizona Theatre Company, the Boston Court Theatre, One Up Productions, the Hangar Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, Clarence Brown Theatre, and Tennessee Stage Company, and was a company member with the nation’s oldest Pan-Latina theatre company, Teatro Luna. Christen holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Theatre and English, and she received her MFA in Acting from the University of Washington. Christen is a film producer and the founder of Pocha Productions, a company focused on innovating how the female gaze translates to cinematic storytelling. She is a screenwriter and the author of Piel de La Fruta/ Skin of the Fruit in Nos Pasamos De La Raya/We Crossed the Line and Dark Windows/ Ventanas Oscuras in Nos Pasamos De La Raya/We Crossed the Line for Flip It Bilingual Collection. Erik cannot wait to spend time chatting with Christen about creating her own work, mentoring the future of the American Theatre, and about her journey to joining PCPA’s resident company.
