DeLanna Studi*

DeLanna Studi (she/hers) is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation. Her theater credits include directing Cold Case at Perseverance Theater and co-directing Where the Summit Meets the Stars and the National New Play Network’s Rolling World premiere of Haunted, both at Native Voices. Her acting credits include the First National Broadway Tour of Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning play August: Osage County, Off-Broadway’s Gloria: A Life, Informed Consent, and Regional Theaters (Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Portland Center Stage, Cornerstone, Geva, and Indiana Repertory Theater). Her first play, And So We Walked: Along the Trail of Tears, retells her journey when she retraced her family’s footsteps along the Trail of Tears with her father. Recently, it made its Off-Broadway debut at Minetta Lane, where it was recorded for Audible. Her film and television credits include the Peabody Award-winning Edge of America, Hallmark’s Dreamkeeper, Goliath, Shameless, General Hospital, Reservation Dogs, and Disney’s The Roof. She is the Artistic Director of Native Voices, the only Equity Theatre in the country that develops and produces plays written by Native playwrights. DeLanna is a 2022 United States Artists Fellow, an Advance Gender Equality in the Arts Legacy Playwright Grant Recipient, and the recipient of the Butcher Scholar Award, MAP Fund Grant, Cherokee Preservation Grant, and the Doris Duke Performing Artist Fund. Since 2007, she has served as the chair of the SAGAFTRA National Native Americans Committee. DeLanna is also the 2024/25 Playwright in Residence at Geva Theatre in Rochester, New York, and a finalist for the 2026 Susan Smith Blackburn Award.
