Kaelen Novak
Kaelen Novak is a freelance designer focusing on theatrical, experimental, and virtual design for live entertainment. Traditionally designing in the mediums of costume, scenery and projections, they also conduct research into the inclusion of emerging technologies like motion capture and interactive elements into the live performance workflow. They have been designer for a large array of projects including creative director of ‘ARatorio for the Mis-Remembered’ at the University of Iowa, motion capture creative director for the Future Stages Festival at Juilliard, Character and Virtual Costume Designer for the VR production ‘Pieces of Me’, and scenic and projection designer for a variety of shows at Riverside Theatre in Iowa City, IA such as ‘Bronte: The World Without’. They continue to explore and teach about the intersection of theatre, art and emerging technology, and their research can be found in ‘USITT Theatre Design and Technology’. Kaelen is excited to be working on this incredible production with PCPA and looks forward to working with them in the future.
